There are misgivings among Bangladeshis and others that Bangladesh evolved independently because the bulk of people in East Pakistan didn't want to live in a Pakistani province. Actually the foundation of Pakistan eventually paved the way for Bangladesh. Had there been no Pakistan there wouldn't have been any Bangladesh! East Bengali Muslims as their counterparts elsewhere in British India created Pakistan which came into being on 14th August 1947. This presentation argues that actually 26th March (the day Bangladesh declared its independence in 1971) evolved out of 14th August
