Apparently Hasina and Bangladesh judiciary are at loggerheads. Recently when a local Awami League leader in Chattogram had threatened to assault the US Ambassador Peter Haas for his alleged intervention into the domestic affairs of Bsngladesh, Hasina promised to take legal action against that party activist. Despite this, the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate in Dhaka turned down all attempts to take any legal action against that person. Does this signal the end of Hasina's iton grip on the judiciary? We don't think so. This might be Hasina's another trick to save her party activist and simultaneously an attempt to prove that the judiciary is free from any interference from her office to salvage her tarnished image as a partisan prime minister. This isn't going to whiten her dark image as a authoritarian dictator.
